Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a wide array of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring angels, evil spirits, and malevolent powers growing in power within the city.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of characters who will split off from the main group to begin their independent quest, apart from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team includes Teor Pridesire (portrayed by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Given a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might appear mismatched, but the developments of the third episode show why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
First, the group understands precisely where to proceed after a violent initial meeting with the antagonists.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing kicked off the narrative’s action—used the foes for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, assaulting the character, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The antagonist then cleared his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in the northern region, north of the urban center, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each member has a specific drive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, seeks revenge.
- The adventurer knows the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous place.
- Tyranny and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead freed him, have no other options.
- Yet, their position as key figures in the powerful family could help the group access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The fighter vowed a life debt to The cleric for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are sought by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The rogue and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the family.
This results in them few options but to travel to the remote area in quest for the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
